Canada’s Pro Women’s Soccer League, the Northern Super League (NSL), is kicking off its debut season in just over a week. It’s launching with six teams spreading from coast to coast in Canada, from Vancouver to Halifax. This is the first attempt at professional women’s soccer in Canada in over a decade when the USL W-League shut down in 2015.

The /r/MLS subreddit has been running a series of posts about the “Countdown to Kickoff”, giving overviews of a MLS team’s previous season and their upcoming season. The MLS season just kicked off over the weekend and I noticed that no one had written one about the team I support, the Vancouver Whitecaps, so I took it upon myself to write one!
